On Oct. 25, the Hoofers teamed up with the UW Theater Department and Mallat’s Halloween Store to put on the Haunted House. The event was free for all attendees. The Haunted House path weaved...

By Emily Connor Long before the Marquee Theater, the Sett’s HD television, and computer-lined entryways, the old Union South building and a now-forgotten Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) subcommittee hosted a favorite student event. Music blasted and fog machines piped smoke into the old Union South’s dark and dingy hallways. But the students didn’t care where they were–they were dancing like it was 1989. A subcommittee of the WUD activities and games committee hostedDiversions, the original dance club at Union South. UW...

After joining in a rousing chorus of “Happy Birthday,” bash attendees enjoyed free cupcakes from a massive cupcake mosaic of Bucky’s face. Inside Union South, memories of Bucky Badger lined the walls. “A Century of Bucky” displayed 23 enlarged images of UW...

By Emily Connor At first, a wild boar, an English scholar and an English student might not seem to have much in common with the Memorial Union. But these characters in an old English legend are responsible for creating one of theWisconsin Union’s most popular holiday traditions. Just as planned, from Nov 30 to Dec. 6, the Tudor Holiday Dinner and Concert series will return to Memorial Union’s Great Hall for another holiday season. As the weather cools and leaves begin to fall, it reminds me how exciting it is to start a new academic year at the Wisconsin Union. And while students establish their new routines on the campus (like they do every autumn), Union members continue to frequent their favorite Union spots as they have all year long. As much as the Union acts as the “living room” of the UW-Madison campus on a daily basis, it also serves as the heart and soul of the University to the Union’s thousands of members. Whether you live hundreds of miles away or right...
