Free Wallpapers in Honor of Women’s History Month, March 2021
During Women’s History, our country is called to acknowledge and honor the contributions of women throughout American’s history. The month actually began as a plan to create a week-long celebration.
In issuing the celebration proclamation, then-President Jimmy Carter said, “Too often, the women were unsung, and sometimes their contributions were unnoticed. But the achievements, leadership, courage, strength and love of the women who built America was a vital as that of the men whose names we know so well.
In celebrating this month, we are also reflecting on that it was only a little more than 100 years ago that women gained the right to vote in the United States. Feb. 8, 2021, in fact, is the 100th anniversary of the ratifying of the 19th amendment, which extended this right to American women. Women fought for this right for nearly 100 years before they finally could vote in our country. Specifically, the 19th amendment prohibits denying Americans the right or abridging that right on the basis of a person’s sex. This amendment is one of the many ways women have led the way to make a difference in the United States of America and helped contribute to making America what it is today.
To the women of yesterday, today and tomorrow, thank you. We hope you feel appreciated for who you are and all that you this month and every month.
