Terrace Time Tastes: Staff Picks
The sunburst chairs are back at the Memorial Union Terrace, and Terrace time deliciousness is calling your name.
We asked the people who know Memorial Union dining best, our very own Wisconsin Union team, what menu items they’re craving most when they sit lakeside at the Terrace or when they want to bring a taste of the Terrace home with them. From snackable bites to frozen delights, these picks come straight from the people who help make connections and experiences possible at the Wisconsin Union.
Shauna Breneman, Wisconsin Union public relations and communications officer
“Our Bavarian pretzel at der Rathskeller has a perfect combination of a slightly crispy crust and a soft, chewy interior. The interior has that slightly malty-sweet flavor that really makes for an incredible Bavarian pretzel. It comes with two sauce choices; all of the options really complement the pretzel’s flavor profile. “
Sean Michael Dargan, Wisconsin Union Directorate Music Committee advisor
During Terrace times, Sean Michael Dargan enjoys a lakeside plant-based brat and a locally made Terrace Strawberry Lemonade from the Brat Stand. The Brat Stand is an iconic seasonal dining destination that serves up freshly grilled brats, veggie brats and hamburgers throughout most of Terrace season. You can find our non-alcoholic, gluten-free, sparkling lemonades, which we developed with Madison-based Karben4, at all Wisconsin Union-run dining locations.
Susan Dibbell, Wisconsin Union deputy director
“I get smokehouse sides from the seasonal BBQ Stand and bring them home. Working full-time, I don’t always have time to prepare sides and the BBQ Stand’s sides are delicious.”
Barb Kautz-Wittwer, Wisconsin Union Office for Student Organizations, Leadership & Involvement interim director of student leadership and involvement
“I love the gluten-free breakfast sandwiches at Peet’s Coffee. I can’t think of a better way to start your morning than with a coffee, a breakfast sandwich and a beautiful lakeside seat on the Terrace!”
Fun fact: Most of our pastries and breakfast sandwiches are made in-house.
