University of Wisconsin–Madison Staff and Faculty, Experiences for a Lifetime Await You at the Wisconsin Union

Hey, University of Wisconsin–Madison staff and faculty, as part of the Wisconsin Union team, there are some things you should know about what your University affiliation means when it comes to our spaces, services and events here at the Wisconsin Union and about what else awaits you if you become a Wisconsin Union member.

Limited Access with your Staff/Faculty Wiscard

Here’s what you have as a staff and faculty member of the University:

  1. Access to Wisconsin Union shared spaces, including those at Union South, Memorial Union, the Memorial Union Terrace, the University Club, and satellite markets and cafes
  2. Access to most Wisconsin Union events. Some events are exclusive to Wisconsin Union members or UW–Madison students.
  3. The ability to purchase alcohol at Wisconsin Union dining options with your Wiscard and a government-issued ID showing you are age 21 or over.

What do you need to have this access? Keep your Wiscard with you when you’re visiting, and be prepared to show staff the Wiscard if asked for proof of membership. While your Wiscard is not a Union membership, it will provide you with the above-listed, limited benefits during your time with the University team.

Your Wisconsin Union times can get even better when you become an annual or lifetime Wisconsin Union member. Your benefits expand exponentially when you do while you’re also making a difference in the lives of the students we all serve. Here’s what membership gets you:

Making a Difference

Memorial Union Terrace

Members of the University community frequently talk about students being the “why” behind their work, talking about their roles in supporting their education as being a critical part of their employment experience. One of the great parts about Wisconsin Union membership is that your membership dollars and your purchases in Union-run spaces help us provide thousands of student leadership experiences each year, some of which provide academic stipends of up to 80% of in-state tuition.

These students gain hands-on leadership experiences through their roles, including by organizing and holding more than 2,000 student-led events annually in addition. As an organization that does not regularly receive taxpayer dollars to support the providing of our activities or buildings, your support through purchases is critical to our ability to make a difference.

Joining the Wisconsin Union

Annual and lifetime memberships can be purchased via phone at (608) 262-2263, in person at the membership desk on the 5th floor of Memorial Union, or online at https://union.wisc.edu/get-involved/become-a-member/membership-options/. UW–Madison employees are eligible for discounted membership.

We hope you join the more than 110,000 people, who have chosen to join the Union and expand their experiences for a lifetime options while making a difference in the lives of students.
