Wisconsin Experience Bus Trip: 4 Reasons to Apply

If you’re interested in growing as a leader, exploring the state of Wisconsin and meeting a bus full of new people, a Wisconsin Experience Bus Trip (WEBT) may just be the experience for you. Each WEBT offers participants the opportunity to boost their resumes all while building new connections and exploring new areas.

At the Wisconsin Union, we are dedicated to providing experiences for a lifetime, and a Wisconsin Experience Bus Trip is one you will not want to miss. In case you aren’t convinced yet, here are four reasons to apply.

1. Connect with other students

Since 2014, each WEBT has provided 35 students with an unforgettable trip through Wisconsin. Open to UW-Madison undergraduate, graduate and professional students, the five-day trip incorporates group work and community-focused initiatives allowing participants to connect with students at all stages of their educational journey. Each trip provides an opportunity for students to engage and learn with peers beyond the classroom.

2. Build leadership skills and experience

Each day of the WEBT is structured around the pillars of the WI Experience: empathy & humility, relentless curiosity, intellectual confidence and purposeful action, to help students develop leadership skills on their own, in groups and in their communities. Along with connecting with other students, participants will meet with Wisconsin local leaders to better understand how leadership is being used throughout the state to create positive change.

3. Explore what Wisconsin has to offer

Whether you’ve called Wisconsin home your whole life or only arrived when you started school, on a WEBT, you are likely to explore parts of the state you never even knew existed. Throughout the trip, students will have the opportunity to gain a profound understanding of Wisconsin’s communities. By the end of the trip, participants will have a better understanding of how people live and work throughout the state.

4. No cost to participate

Each WEBT comes at no cost to participating students. Each bus trip is fully-funded, providing students with an accessible opportunity to travel throughout the state and enhance their leadership skills.

If you or someone you know is interested in participating, applications for the 2026 Wisconsin Experience Bus Trip are open until March 19 and priority consideration applications will close on March 10.
