Throwback Thursday 8/30 "Back to School" films at UW-Madison

Quite a few famous faces have appeared at Memorial Union over time. In this screen shot from the 1986 film Back to School, Rodney Dangerfield and Sally Kellerman shoot a scene on the lower deck of the Terrace. Many outdoor scenes for the film were shot on the UW-Madison campus to represent the film’s fictional “Grand Lakes University.” We’re just guessing, but maybe the fictional name is a nod to the mighty Mendota and Monona lakes? This Throwback Thursday snapshot was brought to our attention by blogger Robby Cress. Read more about his journey to Madison on his blog Dear Old Hollywood. Got a snapshot to share? Let us know by emailing membership@wisc.edu.
