Art for All at the Terrace Art Zone

Presented annually by Wheelhouse Studios, Memorial Union’s very own craft studio, the Terrace Art Zone is designed to bring creativity, crafting, and art to all. Each week, the Terrace Art Zone is open between Wednesday and Saturday from 5-8 PM (weather permitting) for FREE art-making activities. All ages and skill levels are welcome to participate!

The Perfect Family-Friendly Activity in Madison

Looking for a free family-friendly activity in Madison? The Terrace Art Zone has you covered. You and your kiddos can enjoy free crafting for all skill levels. And better yet, we’ll take care of supplies and cleanup. Each week, we feature a specific project, ranging from painting kindness rocks to stamping gift bags. The projects are intentionally designed to work well for a wide range of ages. You can see what is coming up by checking out our Terrace Art Zone page

The Art Zone, located in the southwest corner of the Terrace, is a great way to spend time outdoors as a family and tap into everyone’s artistic abilities. Our friendly staff will help your little ones complete the projects, or they can grab one of our free coloring pages to create their own Terrace masterpiece.

Make it an afternoon at the Terrace

After you’ve used up your creativity energy, refuel on the Terrace with snacks, sweets, and food from one of the many dining units near the Terrace Art Zone. Grab brats and burgers from the brat stand,  treat your kids to ice cream cones from the Daily Scoop, located inside Memorial Union, or grab cheese curds from the beloved der Rathskeller.

If you need more ways to burn off some young energy, head down to Outdoor UW for kayak, canoe, or paddleboard rentals and enjoy fantastic views of the city from Lake Mendota.

We hope to see you and your family soon! Check out all Terrace events
