Swing by “Behind the Beat” March 31 for Union Membership Special

Don’t miss our member special March 31, where Union members receive a free bag of large popcorn.

Attention all jazz loving Wisconsin Union members. Stop by der Rathskeller from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 31 for “Behind the Beat,” a weekly jazz series held in der Rath at Memorial Union. And because we love our members, you’ll also get a free large bag of popcorn.

Programmed by the student-run WUD Music, “Behind the Beat” features a different local jazz band each week. At our special member night on March 31, check in at the member table outside der Rathskeller, show your union member card and get a coupon to redeem for free popcorn. All UW-Madison students are welcome as well, so break up your long week of work and class and swing by for live music.

Relax and dance along to the band Mal-O-Dua, who describe themselves as a mixture of “French Swing, Gypsy Jazz, and Hawaiian Guitar Sorcery.” Don’t hide from the cold and spend another routine night in, change it up and learn more about the benefits of being a Union member.

“Patrons in der rathskeller are usually pretty celebratory by Friday at 5 p.m.,” Music Committee Advisor Courtney Byelich said. “It’s great to be able to celebrate the end of the work week with free live music.”
