Riding club star gazes and grazes at second Universe in the Pasture event
By Megan Reichert
The Hoofer Riding club had a successful night on Saturday, Oct. 8 when they held their second annual Universe in the Pasture event. Guest enjoyed snacks and refreshments while star gazing at the Hoofer Equestrian Center in Belleville, WI.
This was the second year Hoofer Riding club organized the event, and it was a great success with approximately 120 student and community members in attendance. The event involved partnering with the UW Department of Astronomy’s “Universe in the Park” in order to provide a fun, free community-wide event where the riding club encouraged people to enjoy the star gazing as well as being around their horses in a leisurely setting.
The night began with snacks and refreshments, followed by a short presentation of constellations by Kay Kriewald, accompanied by illustrations on some of the horses themselves. Lastly, the group went out into the pasture to look at the stars through the telescopes the UW Department of Astronomy had provided.
This event was particularly special because the riding club was able to work in collaboration with a UW Department and we’re able to use their stable space to increase community education in both a fun and friendly environment. Riding Club President, Megan Reichert said since this was their second annual Universe in the Pasture event, they “hope to continue doing it each fall.”
The riding club organizes many great events throughout the year. To learn more about the club and their events, visit the Hoofer Riding club website.
