My April Event Picks

Now that the sun is shining brighter and setting later, the excitement of summer is just around the corner. To help with the unpredictable seasonal transition, we at the Wisconsin Union, as always, has a packed event calendar this April. Here is my April Wisconsin Union events bucket list, I hope you choose to join in on one…or many!

April 2 – Outdoor Explorer Series: Birding and Animal Tracking

To kick off the month of April, Outdoor UW is hosting a birding and tracking class in the Mendota Lodge. This class will enhance your connection to nature and improve your observation skills. It’s an opportunity I do not want to miss. Hiking and spending time outdoors is a big part of my life, so this class will allow me to understand different signs and sounds of the natural world, perfect in preparation for the warmer months ahead.

April 6 – Sunday Game Night

Whether you had a super relaxing or a jam-packed weekend, Sunday Game Night is the perfect final reset before Monday kicks in. Located in the Sett at Union South, grab a bite to eat and start planning your board game strategy. Check out the official games list here! Personally, I am looking forward to playing Apples to Apples to get my creative juices flowing.

April 9 – Trivia at the Sett

What is the most ideal Wednesday night activity? You’re right! Trivia at the Sett. Trivia is the perfect mid-week work and school re-set. An activity where you can challenge yourself but also have fun, hang out with friends and take your mind off of that paper or presentation. Plus, who doesn’t love learning a new fact or two.

April 25 – Free Art Friday: Watercolor Terrace Chairs

Nothing beats the excitement of the return of the Terrace Chairs on Lake Mendota. And now, you get the chance to watercolor your own interpretation of the beautiful lake side view. The time, 5-8 p.m., increases the chances of catching a striking sunset. You do not want to miss this colorful combination of lake, sky, chairs and the surrounding wildlife.

April 30 – Outdoor Explorer Series: Intro to Canoeing

To conclude the month of April and prepare for a wonderful Madison summer, join me in learning how to canoe from Outdoor UW. This class will ensure you are equipped with all the canoe basics and essential skills to enjoy on the water, no matter what Mother  Nature throws your way. And, the class will show you hidden coves and prime wildlife viewing spots that are only accessible by canoe.
