HOOFPRINTS: SnS Winter Break Trips Recap, Part 2 – “The Third Trip”
As part of the slew of SnS trips that took place in January, the trip to Lake Tahoe, better known as the “3rd trip” or “alternative trip,” provided exactly what it was mean to: an alternative to the large Steamboat Springs trip and the upcoming Jackson Hole spring break trip.
Nestled at the Blue Lake Inn, South Lake Tahoe, the 19 members of the trip enjoyed just about everything, except for the one thing that ski and snowboarders need: snow!
Ryan Parsons, Alternative/3rd Trip Director of SnS, said “everyone had fun even though the snow was terrible. The hill did not have snow since November. We only had one day with clouds—one of the more fun trips I’ve been on.” Some of the perks of being on this trip included the proximity of the town to the hill, the local night life and the smaller group of people.
Looking into the future, Ryan has mentioned places such as Mammoth, CA, Alaska and places outside of the country as possible destinations for the next 3rd trip. He’s also looking into moving the trip to a date and time where the location would have better snow and not compete with other SnS trips.
If you’re interested in going on future trips stay tuned to www.hoofersns.org. If you have any suggestions for an SnS trip, send a message to Ryan at rtparsons@wisc.edu.
