HOOFPRINTS: SnS Winter Break Trips Recap, Part 1 – Steamboat and Team Trips

6920915531_c3a76b1dabThis winter break, Hoofers Ski and Snowboard Club traveled across the country to many different venues to experience the mountains of the west.

One large group went to Steamboat Springs, CO, while the Alpine ski team went to Winter Park, CO. Both groups had a great time tearing up the slopes and bonding with fellow Hoofer club members. Despite the lack of snow, everyone had fun and many different activities occurred as well.

One trip leader, Ella Stutz, said she couldn’t pinpoint a favorite part of the trip to Steamboat because “everything and everyone was so great!” A newcomer to the trip, Chelsea Anderson, said that “learning how to ski out west was definitely the best part of the trip. It was also exciting getting on the blue runs by the second day despite all the falling I had to do first!” All who attended the trip, both new and old, called it a great success.

The Alpine team spent their time practicing out at Winter Park, CO with their coach, and an alumni coach came to assist the coaches during their training sessions.  Both the freestyle and Nordic teams spent some time training in the Midwest as well as attending other trips across the country.

Over spring break, SnS members will head to Jackson Hole, WY, for a week, while other members have the opportunity to attend weekend trips. There are still a number of openings on these trips, so stop in the Outdoor Programs Office to get more information and sign up! Spots are limited…so hurry in today!
