Hoofprints: Sailing Club kicks off summer season

Hoofers Sailing

The Hoofers Sailing Club will hold its First Annual Instructor Auction on June 3 to kick off the summer sailing season. The evening’s festivities will begin at 5:00 in the Memorial Union Great Hall with a reception followed by hors d’oeuvres. Silent bidding for the many prizes on the ticket will last until 8:30 at which point the winners will be announced.

Prizes include a wine and cheese sunset cruise, private lessons with a Hoofer’s instructor, a dinner cruise on Lake Michigan, tickets to Wisconsin Union Theater shows, and golf lessons among others. Throughout the evening, attendees will be treated to sailing activities, and the Isthmus Jazz Festival will be in full swing on the Terrace, providing even more summer evening entertainment.

Later in June, the Sailing Club will celebrate one of its quirkier and most beloved traditions: Pirate Day. On June 18, seasoned sailers and curious community members will don their best eye patches and peg legs and take turns attacking each other with water guns and following clues on a treasure hunt. Check out the Daily Cardinal’s video below to see a past Pirate Day celebration.
