Hoofer Sailing Club – Sailing Shop Winter Recap
The Hoofer Sailing shop had yet another active winter.
Not only did they have their usual winter repairs (fiber glassing, sewing, general maintenance), but they were also busy overhauling the motorboats, which included outfitting the whaler with a bench and a steering wheel. Additionally, they participated in numerous design meetings with MUR architects on the design of the new sailing shop, working on the crane barge, training 6 new employees, and as of recent preparing for a very early pier-in.
The challenges for the sailing shop continue however, as they are still searching for a place to relocate during MUR construction. Construction on outdoor programs facilities is slated to start in September 2012 and be completed and open for use by June 2013. Currently the shop is preparing to move their equipment and tools to a destination still yet to be determined until the new space is open.
If you have any helpful information for a temporary shop relocation with possible woodworking and paint booth capabilities please contact Matt Barron at shop@hoofersailing.org.
