Help Wanted: The Wisconsin Union Association (WUA) Wants You!
By Haley Mades
If you’ve never heard of WUA, allow me to introduce you: WUA is a non-profit, educational corporation that represents the Wisconsin Unions’ 95,000 Members and Lifetime Members, including UW-Madison students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends.
The Wisconsin Union Association is governed by Trustees who are dedicated to keeping the Wisconsin Union’s traditions alive while fostering growth and innovation for all its members. This committed group is looking for someone with a particular set of skills and knowledge, and they’re hoping you can help.
Interested in becoming a Trustee? Do you have a desire to support the Wisconsin Union by providing your expertise, life experiences, philanthropy and connections?
Consider nominating yourself or someone you know if you or they:
- have a background as a CPA, with knowledge of non-profit accounting and auditing;
- are familiar with laws of charitable giving and working with the IRS;
- are willing to serve a six-year term as a Trustee; and
- are located in Madison or the surrounding area (ideally).
You need to be a lifetime Wisconsin Union member, or willing to become one if elected.
Nominations will be accepted until March 8 at 11:59 PM central time. The WUA nominating sub-committee will review all nominations. Those nominees whom the WUA nominating sub-committee deems to meet qualifications will be placed on a ballot for a vote by current WUA trustees.
