Reviving Healthy Habits on Campus

There’s a new badger market on campus and it’s not your run-of-the-mill cafe. Home to the School of Nursing, the new badger market “Revive” focuses on healthy eating habits and lifestyles. Thanks to the joined forces of the School of Nursing and the Wisconsin Union Dining Services staff, Revive was brought to life fueled by the mission to promote overall health and wellness on campus. Revive sets itself apart from other badger markets by getting the best insight from the School of Nursing on what is needed in a...

Breaking the Mold: Arts in the College Union

“Art is a verb. It’s about the process,” says Wheelhouse Director Jay Ekleberry. “The process and creative endeavor is where you learn, where you interact and where you build social capital.” Jay and the Wheelhouse Studios staff are committed to providing a place to break the normal routine, to connect and to foster creative thinking. Though Wheelhouse Studios just recently opened, it’s already a campus destination for art-makers. New Face, Same Place

The Hamel Family Browsing Library is more than a quiet study room; it is a space that bridges the old and the new. Students today are enjoying the Browsing Library in close to the same manner as their predecessors did decades before. The study and lounge space was restored as part of phase one of the Memorial Union Reinvestment. It was made possible by a gift from the Hamel family—a lead donation to the historic building campaign. “The Browsing Library really stood out to us,” said George Hamel Jr., whose father graduated from UW in...

Leaders on Wheels

Five days, 28 students, one bus: This is the Wisconsin Experience Bus Trip (WEBT). The trip came as a result of a collaboration between the Wisconsin Union Directorate Alternative Breaks program and other organizations such as the Division of Student Life, the Chancellor’s Office and...
