A User’s Guide to the Terrace

The Terrace is a great place to catch up with friends, family and enjoy everything the “heart and soul of the university,” has to offer.

Some people rely on Groundhog Day to determine when spring will finally bloom. But at the Wisconsin Union, we have our own method to signify the start of a new season: The return of the Terrace chairs. Though a late April snowstorm delayed the Terrace opening, we were thrilled to see everyone line up to carry the famous chairs out to the Terrace April 24. Since then, the green, orange and yellow chairs have been filled with students, faculty, alumni, families and more every day.

More than just a pretty face, the Terrace has dozens of delicious food and drink options, and so much to do that you’ll have to work to not find something you enjoy. You’ll find games for all ages and exciting new merchandise at the Terrace Welcome Cart, located outside der Rathskeller. The cart opens on May 26th–stop by to borrow a game for free. Can’t wait for the Welcome Cart to open? Check out our online store here.

If you’ve been to the Terrace, you know we do entertainment better than anyone. With music and film options all summer long, you’ll want to check out the Terrace After Dark schedule. Many of your favorites are on the schedule, and many of your soon-to-be-favorites are there, too.

After a longer that usual winter that seemed reluctant to let go, it’s great to see activity on the waterfront again. We can’t wait to see you there!
