Summer Terrace Season Creates New Traditions

The Brat Stand on the west side of the Terrace will be one of many food concessions this summer.

Here at the Wisconsin Union, a new season brings new changes to the Terrace, from delicious food options to exciting Outdoor UW activities. But don’t worry, all your favorite Terrace traditions are still here to greet you.

Nothing beats watching a sunset on the Terrace with a classic Wisconsin meal from the Brat Stand that serves brats, burgers, grilled chicken, corn on the cob and cold beverages. But this summer, expand your options with the new BBQ Stand located on the east side of the Terrace. The stand will serve all the classics, plus vegetarian options like barbecue flavored jack fruit, that tastes just like pulled pork. And while you’re in line at the BBQ stand, don’t forget to order a scoop of your favorite Babcock Hall ice cream.

If you can peel yourself away from the Terrace for just a minute, step inside Memorial Union and experience even more delicious food options. Stop by der Rathskeller, grab a fresh salad or panini from Carte, your own personal size pizza from Strada and maybe even splurge on the Freshman 15 ice cream sundae at Daily Scoop and share with your friends.

Check out the brand new service counter located in Lakeview Lounge that offers family-style pizza, appetizers including spicy roasted chickpeas and Cajun boiled shrimp plus cold beverages. No matter where you are in Memorial Union, inside or out, you’re sure to find food you will love.

While the BBQ Stand and Lakeview Lounge concessions don’t have a set opening date yet, Terrace-goers can look forward to these new food options sometime in June.

Food isn’t the only thing to love about the Terrace; don’t just watch the waves on Lake Mendota this summer, jump right in! This summer, Outdoor UW will anchor a “giant lilypad,” on the lake, a large floating mat that makes a great place to bask in the sunlight.

This summer join the dozens of fun summer events at the Terrace including live music, movies and art projects. The Terrace Cart will also return this summer, stocked with games and your favorite Terrace merchandise.

Swing by the Terrace this summer and fall back into your favorite traditions…and start some new ones!
