As summer comes to a close, students return to campus and prepare to take new classes. But aside from the academic excitement a new school year brings, many are looking forward to another thing autumn has in store–athletic festivities. Fall means college football season for campuses across the nation, and it also means the reappearance of Wisconsin’s beloved gameday traditions–tailgating with brats and cold beverages, singing along to “Build Me Up Buttercup” and going wild when “Jump Around” comes on the loudspeakers in Camp Randall Stadium.

The first Badger football game of the season will take place Sept. 3 on Lambeau Field. While some are fortunate enough to have tickets and will make the trek to Green Bay, many others will be cheering from Madison. To keep gameday traditions alive during this first away game, the Union has rented not one, but two jumbotrons that will be screening the event Saturday afternoon. One will be at Union South, and the other on the Memorial Union Terrace.

The screening at Union South will be geared primarily toward first-year students, with the goal being to make it feel like attendees were really at the game. Seats will be set up around the jumbotron, and there will be a DJ to blast all the school songs. Students will even get the chance to practice their “Jump Around.” A t-shirt cannon and various contests are among other fun activities planned for the bash at Union South.

Meanwhile, the jumbotron on the Terrace will be showing the game on both of its sides, so those sitting in sunburst chairs as well as people out on the lake can keep track of the score. The game will also be on in the Sett, for those who prefer a cozier atmosphere.

The Badgers will kick off against the LSU Tigers Saturday, Sept. 3 at 2:30 p.m.
