We invited graduating seniors to stop in for the graduation party of the year May 12-15. During the weekend celebration, Union South, Memorial Union and (drum roll, please) the Terrace offered music, photo opportunities, food, beverages and much more to graduating seniors and their families to commemorate their time at UW-Madison.

The weekend celebration kicked off with graduating seniors returning nearly 700 iconic sunburst chairs to the Terrace in 32 minutes on May 12, accompanied by the UW Marching Band. Celebrations continued as tens of thousands of people visited Memorial Union and Union South throughout the weekend.

Hundreds of these graduating seniors captured treasured, once-in-a-lifetime moments with free professional photos in the famous giant Terrace chair at Union South and the Terrace on Saturday.

Also at Union South, graduating seniors wearing their caps and gowns bowled for free at the Sett Rec. Some of these caps featured decorations created during Wheelhouse Studios’ “Cappy Hour,” an event that helped hundreds of graduates express themselves through custom cap embellishments.

Graduation celebrations would not have been complete without food and beverages from the Brat Stand at Memorial Union. We served classic Terrace staples, including corn and brats.

Plus, for the first time ever, live bands performed on the newly unveiled Terrace stage, which includes a more powerful sound system and increased space. Despite a cold and rainy weekend, the show went on with ’80s cover band 16 Candles performing on Friday night and Gin, Chocolate & Bottle Rockets performing on Saturday.

Words cannot express our gratitude for the students who visit the Wisconsin Union’s locations and for the students who, each year, lead efforts to create experiences for a lifetime.

To our graduating seniors, while you may be off on your next adventures, we know this is not goodbye; this is “See you soon.” Until then, we wish you the best that life has to offer and more experiences for a lifetime no matter where your journey takes you.
